Walton Scholars

Sam W. Walton, founder of Walmart, is one of the Trulaske College of Business’s proud alumni. The Walton Scholars program, established in 1992, provides intentional leadership opportunities to this phenomenal group of students.

The Walton Scholars Program provides students with:

• A corporate site visit trip every Fall to visit exciting companies such as Google, Edward Jones, Hireology, Hallmark, Morningstar Financial, Wrigley Field and Leo Burnett to name a few. Cities visited recently are Chicago, Memphis, Minneapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis. The group also visits the Walmart headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas every 4 years so that every scholar has an opportunity to go once in their college career.
• Monthly professional development where scholars have the opportunity share a meal and hear from alumni and professionals on a topic relevant to emerging business leaders.
• An annual etiquette lunch at the local downtown branch through a partnership with Central Bank of Boone County.

You can apply to become a member of the Walton Scholars if you are an incoming or continuing Mizzou business student pursuing an emphasis in Marketing, Management or Finance and Banking with the intent of pursuing a career in retailing. Per scholarship requirements, Walton Scholars cannot pursue the 150 Hour Accounting program or the Economics emphasis. Awarded based on financial need and academic and leadership achievement. Walton Scholars are required to work 10-12 hours per week in a retail environment. The scholarship provides $9500 per year and is renewable for a maximum of four years (eight semesters).
