Can I make changes to my application after I’ve submitted it?

No. Once you submit your application you cannot make changes to it. However, you can log into the application and upload new or updated documents and make changes as many times as you wish before you submit your application.

What is the application fee?

The application fee is $75 for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, or $100 for non-resident international applications.

Can I receive a waiver of the mandatory application fee?

No. The MU Graduate School does not have a waiver for the application fee, and our department does not have a budget to cover the fee, or even a portion of the fee, for applicants.

Can I receive a waiver for the TOEFL or IELTS? (International applicants)

Information about waivers is available from the Graduate School webpage

Do you accept part-time students or offer online classes?

No. The program is designed for full-time, on campus, continuous study only.

What are the criteria for admission?

The review committee evaluates all components of an application, and an admission decision is not based on only one component. For test scores, either the GRE or the GMAT is acceptable. There is no minimum score for either test; however, typically successful candidates have strong scores. Average GRE scores for students admitted in recent years in Accountancy are 316.1, in Finance are 331.7, in Management are 313.3, and in Marketing are 334.4.

Successful candidates have a well written statement of purpose that demonstrates good fit with our program and faculty interests. Faculty evaluate these statements to learn about you primarily in three main ways:

  • Whether you have qualities that make you well-suited for graduate school, such as intellectual curiosity, passion, persistence, and a strong work ethic.
  • Whether your background, experiences, and interests make you a good fit for the program.
  • Your ability to write clearly and thoughtfully and to engage critically with important business questions and issues.

Letters of recommendation should be strong and indicate likelihood of successful completion of program.

How many students do you admit each year?

Each emphasis area normally admits two students per year. In some circumstances, three are admitted.
