Student teams shine at 2017-2018 national sales competitions
Student members of the Center for Sales and Customer Development have had strong showings at several competitions across North America this year. Thirty-three students represented the University of Missouri at these competitions, placing in several of the marketing case presentations and sales role play challenges.
“I am so proud that the university and our program continue to attract the best talent from all corners, creating an exceptional level of diversity within our student teams,” Charles Keene, director of the Center for Sales and Customer Development, said.
Oct. 5-6: E. & J. Gallo Invitational Competition
Sponsored by the E. & J. Gallo Winery, this sales competition was hosted at the University of Missouri and featured a marketing case presentation and a sales role play competition. Amina Green and Andrew Thomas competed in the event.
Oct. 12-14: Huhtamaki Sales Competition
The Huhtamaki Sales Competition is a three-tiered competition that was held in Kansas City on Oct. 12-13. The Trulaske sales team was the overall first place winner and placed first in each of the three divisions. Adam Cooley won first place in the senior division, Brian Cobbins, Jr. won first place in the junior division and Nicole Cummings won first place in the sophomore division. Abby Peoples, Kyle Kelley, Bethany Pierce, Joel Hereth and Terriana Glass also competed.
Oct. 12-14: Indiana National Team Selling Competition
The National Team Selling Competition was hosted by Indiana University Bloomington’s Kelly School of Business, where 24 participating schools presented solution proposals for a case provided by KSB. Mizzou placed 6th overall. Cameron Harris was MVP out of 32 students in his bracket.
Oct. 19-20: State Farm Sales and Marketing Competition
Trulaske students competed in the State Farm Sales and Marketing competition held at Central Missouri University in Warrensburg on Friday, October 20. Thirteen universities participated including University of Oregon, University of Minnesota, University of Houston, Arizona State, and University of Georgia. Trulaske students received a total of $3,500 in scholarship money.
Kathryn McDonnell and Danielle Washington competed in the State Farm event with Danielle winning the Gold for the Customer Service Case Competition.
Nov. 1-4: International Collegiate Sales Competition
Hosted by Florida State University in Orlando, the International Collegiate Sales Competition is an all-around challenge of the skills sales professionals need, with a focus on the nature of global business development. The competition featured a speed selling event, a sales management case and a sales role play challenge. Carrie Wagner, Elizabeth Triplett, Henry Gentle, Kyle Rasmussen competed in the event.
Nov. 9-11: Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition
Mizzou competed in the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC), hosted by Bryant University, and placed 4th out of 22 schools. Additionally, Addison Amorosi won 3rd place overall out of 162 contestants.
Feb. 22-24: University of Toledo Sales Competition
The UT Invitational Sales Competition (UTISC) is a national sales competition dedicated exclusively to non-seniors. Olivia Scaturro and Payton Carter competed in the University of Toledo Sales Competition, with Payton Carter earning Mizzou’s highest placement to date at this event.
Feb. 21-24: Arizona Collegiate Sales Competition
The Arizona Collegiate Sales Competition is an exclusive event for the ASU Professional Sales sponsors and invited schools. Courtney Eckenrode, Alex Hampton, Janelle Eisenbath and Keenan Elliot competed at the Arizona State University Sales Competition, with Courtney Eckenrode earning Mizzou’s highest placement to date at this event.
April 19-21: Western States Collegiate Sales Competition
Danielle Washington, Taylor Brown, Darrius Curtis and Taylor Holbrook will compete in the Western States Collegiate Sales Competition held at California State University in Chico. This is a two-day event open to competing students and coaches and Seufferlein Sales Program’s corporate partners.
