During the summer of 2018, I was fortunate to intern for the Mizzou International Trade Center in Prague, Czech Republic. Having the ability to live and do vital market research in a foreign country made this summer an unforgettable one.
Through my experience, I was able to network with numerous CEOs, professors and fellow Mizzou classmates. In addition, I greatly enhanced my teamwork, leadership, communication and project management skills. I even learned things that I would not have if this internship took place in America. Being abroad gave me the opportunity to travel to places I thought I’d never be able to visit at my age. Through this, I immersed myself in various cultures, tried new things, saw beautiful places, and made friends with people from all over the world.
After seeing so much more of the world with my own eyes, I discovered the major opportunities in expanding business operations internationally. I felt that the best part of this internship was the fact that the hard work my teammates and I were doing mattered. It was mind-blowing knowing that our project would provide our company with actionable information that will be used by them in their future international market entry or expansion decisions. After returning to Mizzou, I participated in the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) Exam Prep Training offered by the MU ITC. This training allowed me build on the skills that I learned this summer, and positions me to be able to secure a professional credential prior to graduating. Overall, I am grateful to attend a university that provides its students with such life-changing opportunities.
