Program Structure
The MBA in Analytics is a full-time, in-person, lock-step program with admission for the fall semester only. Students enter and progress through the program as a cohort, creating a collaborative learning environment that supports strong professional networks, teamwork, and peer learning throughout the program.
A Purpose-Built Analytics Curriculum
This program is intentionally designed with a singular focus on analytics. Every element of the curriculum is aligned with the skills and knowledge required for analytics-driven careers. Rather than treating analytics as a standalone specialty, faculty integrate data, analytics, artificial intelligence and technology throughout the coursework, ensuring students consistently apply analytical thinking in a business context.
Small Cohort, High Engagement
The MBA in Analytics is intentionally small, allowing students to benefit from personalized attention and meaningful interaction. Faculty engagement goes beyond the classroom, and industry professionals actively participate in the program through coursework, projects, and mentoring. Students are never lost in a large program, and relationships and individualized support are central to the experience.
Program Timeline
Before the first fall semester, students complete a mandatory, self-paced Summer Academy designed to ensure they enter the program with the foundational skills needed for success in analytics-focused coursework.
The week before classes begin, students participate in an on-campus orientation that introduces them to their cohort and instructors. Activities focus on team building, professional development, and familiarization with campus resources and the Columbia community.
Students immediately dive into analytics with coursework in statistical analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other core analytical skills. The first year is designed to prepare students to excel in the types of analytical tasks and business challenges they will encounter during their summer internship.
During the summer between the first and second years, students apply their skills in real-world business settings. The internship experience allows students to build professional confidence, expand their skillset, and strengthen their resumes while gaining exposure to analytics roles across industries.
Returning from their internships, students deepen their understanding of business fundamentals and organizational decision-making, while further developing the ability to apply analytics to management, strategy, and operations. Second-year coursework emphasizes integrating analytical insights into successful business practices.
