2017 Public Accounting Report

In the 2017 Public Accounting Report Annual Professors Survey, the School of Accountancy is now ranked 13th for Undergraduate program,15th for Master's program and 20th for the Doctoral program. When adjusted for faculty size, the school is ranked 5th for Undergraduate programs and 6th for Master's programs.  The School offers a 150-hour program which awards both a master’s and bachelor’s degree upon graduation. The combination of rigorous degrees positions students for successful job placement in a competitive market with more than 95 percent employed at graduation. 

Academic Analytics research productivity rankings

Another important development is the recent research productivity ranking of 4th in the nation, as reported in the Chronicle of Higher Education. The ranking is based on a comprehensive analysis of disciplines in over 155 universities by Academic Analytics, an independent consulting firm. For accounting, the rankings were based on publications during the period 2012-2015.

Brigham Young University (BYU) research productivity rankings

BYU has ranked research productivity for the years 1991 through present. Their database tracks publications in the 6 top-tier research journals (AOS, CAR, JAE, JAR, TAR, RAST) plus the section journals of the American Accounting Association. This database contains ranking by area, methodology, and individual faculty. On overall breadth, Mizzou ranks in the Top 15 nationally in the past 6, 12, and 25 years respectively.

CPA exam pass rate rankings

Based on the latest National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) reports on Candidate Performance on the Uniform CPA Examination, which provides reports and commentary on the CPA exam, Mizzou’s School of Accountancy graduates continue to perform at an impressive level on the CPA exam and at a significantly higher rate than the nationwide average pass rate. Additionally, the Mizzou School of Accountancy has an excellent record of AICPA Elijah Watt Sells Award winners (for high scores on the CPA exam) on its roster, including a national top 5 ranking on CPA exam pass rates for 2017 Q2.
