Jennifer Landis
Current Role/Title:
Private Brands Account Manager for E. & J. Gallo Winery
I work with retailers to build Private Brands that break category standards, have mass appeal, & easily build consumer loyalty with shoppers. I also develop and drive sales and marketing plans intended to grow wine & spirits business within key chain accounts.
What is something fascinating happening in your industry right now?
I just moved to Colorado in 2022 and a few months after moving the state voted to pass Proposition 125 which allows the sale of wine in grocery and convenience stores. All current grocery and convenience stores with a license to sell beer can being selling wine on March 1, 2023. This will add over 1,000 new outlets to sell wine in the state of Colorado!
How did you end up in your current position?
I started working for Gallo as a Sales Representative in the Sales Leadership Development Program right after I graduated from Mizzou. I have been working in various roles at Gallo ever since (12+ years)!
In what ways has your Mizzou education/affiliation impacted your life since graduation?
I have had the opportunity to live in four cities since graduation (Houston, Seattle, Dallas and now Denver); with each move, I had the chance to connect with many Mizzou alumni in the area! Some were already friends and others I met through the Mizzou network. It is great having instant connections wherever you go!
Why did you choose Mizzou—what makes Mizzou special? Why should someone consider Mizzou?
I grew up in Kansas City and initially thought I wanted to go to school out of state. When I toured Mizzou I knew that it was the place for me! The campus is beautiful and there are so many organizations to get involved in. I was part of Greek Life at Mizzou, Summer Welcome, and various organizations in the Business School. For any students considering Mizzou, know that there will be a group or organization for you!
Fondest memories while a student or faculty member here?
Some of my fondest memories at Mizzou revolve around the Trulaske Study Abroad Programs. I had the amazing opportunity to work for Chuck Franz as a Student Manager while he was building many of the current programs that the business school offers. We led the inaugural groups to Ireland, Spain, Prague, Vienna, and Austria! I also worked for the Study Abroad Programs as a Graduate Assistant while getting my MBA and helped set up the inaugural China & India programs. This cemented my love for travel and it has never left me!
In your spare time, what do you like to do?
In my free time I like to spend time with my family – my husband David and my two boys: Eli (age 4) & Isaac (age 2).
