Stevie Neuman is an associate professor and holds the Tax Excellence Professorship. She earned her Ph.D. in Accounting (2014) from Texas A&M University and holds both Bachelor of Science and Masters in Accounting degrees (2010) from Texas A&M University. She teaches introductory taxation classes to junior and senior accountancy students. Her research examines firms’ tax planning decisions and the impact of those decisions on financial reporting quality, investors’ assessments of firm value, and other aspects of the information environment. Specifically, she is interested in the volatility of firms’ tax avoidance, tax risk, and corporate inversions, as well as the effects of auditor-provided tax services and tax-related reporting decisions on firms’ information environments. She has published her research in Contemporary Accounting Research and The Journal of the American Taxation Association. She is an active member of the American Accounting Association and American Taxation Association, serves on the editorial board for The Journal of the American Taxation Association, and also assists as an ad hoc reviewer for Accounting HorizonsContemporary Accounting Research, The Journal of the American Taxation Association, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance. She and her husband, Matt, enjoy running, kayaking, and hiking in their spare time.
