Jason McKinney
Jason McKinney serves as the Trulaske College of Business Director of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity. McKinney is also a post-doctoral fellow for the School of Medicine’s Center for Health Policy and the MU Teaching for Learning Center. In this role, he developed and facilitated curricula for rural-based community faculty who teach clinical practice to third-year medical students and for resident/fellow physician educators in the School of Medicine.
McKinney has served MU in charter school operations through the Middleton Fellows Program and Middleton Scholars Training 101, and has taught a variety of courses focused on educational leadership and policy at both MU and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He brings to this role significant experience in recruiting, engaging and retaining minority and international students in every level of education, as well as in developing programs focusing on diversity and inclusion and the importance of belonging.
In the director role, McKinney will continue to ensure that Trulaske is a leader on and off campus in its IDE efforts. His educational philosophy values diversity in education, and he believes that teaching is a wonderful medium for sharing knowledge and changing society for the better. At Trulaske, he will strive to create an inclusive environment that values students’ cultural knowledge and wealth.
McKinney is a Mizzou alum, receiving his doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis in May 2020. He also holds two master’s degrees in education from the University of Illinois, one of which relates to diversity and equity in education; a bachelor’s degree in business management from Oakland City University; and an associate’s degree from the University of Kentucky/Henderson Community College.
