Vairam Arunachalam to serve on ICMA Board of Regents

{Montvale, N.J.} The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA®) is pleased to announce that Dr. Vairam Arunachalam, Director of the School of Accountancy at the University of Missouri, has been appointed to serve as a member of the ICMA Board of Regents for a three-year term through June 30, 2017.  Dr. Arunachalam will participate in the Board of Regents’ charge of overseeing the Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) certification program. ICMA is the certification division of IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants).         

“For more than 40 years, the CMA program has been the leading competency-based certification for accountants and financial professionals working in business—in the U.S. and around the world,” said Samuel C. Weaver, Ph.D., CMA, CFM, ICMA Board of Regents chair. “Dr. Arunachalam will support our charge of ensuring the highest standards for management accounting certification. I congratulate him for accepting this important volunteer leadership position and making a significant contribution of time and expertise.”

The Board of Regents directs the CMA program and is responsible for establishing standards, policies and procedures for controlling the overall exam process, as well as content specifications, questions, and passing standards. The Board also administers continuing education requirements.

Dr. Arunachalam currently serves as Director & PricewaterhouseCoopers/Joseph A. Silvoso Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri. He has taught at the university since 1991, with his primary research areas including information systems and behavioral research. He has been involved in IMA for many years, having served on the Global Board of Directors and as both Chair and Director of the IMA Research Foundation (formerly the Foundation for Applied Research).
