MU announces new management department chair

Ajay Vinzé, Dean of the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, announces the appointment of Rhonda Reger as the new Chair of the Management Department and the M. Watkins Distinguished Professor of Management. The appointment is effective July 1, 2017.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Reger to the Trulaske College of Business and Mizzou.  Rhonda is an internationally-known scholar and an experienced administrator. The Department of Management will greatly benefit from her leadership; I see her as a strong contributor to the college’s strategic priorities,” said Dean Vinzé. 

Currently, Dr. Reger serves as the Nestlé Professor of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, where she is also the Director of Research for the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as the Director of the Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Organizations Doctoral Program.

Before her time at Tennessee, Dr. Reger held faculty positions at the University of Maryland, including Department Co-Chair and Faculty Director of the Masters of Business Administration Program. She also served Arizona State University and the University of Illinois-Chicago. She earned a doctorate in strategic management from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Reger’s current research focuses on strategies to foster high growth and technology entrepreneurship. Her award-winning research on competitive dynamics, social approval assets, and organizational identity has appeared in leading scholarly journals including the Academy of Management JournalAcademy of Management ReviewStrategic Management JournalOrganization ScienceJournal of ManagementJournal of Management Studies, and Organizational Research Methods. Her highly cited research in the Academy of Management Journal was recently recognized by Thomson-Reuters Web of Science for its reach and impact.

Dr. Reger replaces Dr. Douglas Moesel, who currently serves as Chair of the Management Department.
