Mizzou’s Alpha Kappa Psi earns Chapter of the Year distinction

The Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi received one of 35 national Chapter of the Year awards given at the organization’s biannual national conference held Aug. 2-5 in Las Vegas. The Mizzou chapter also received this distinction at the previous national convention in 2015.

The award is given to select chapters for hosting professional development events. Some of the Mizzou chapter’s events included résumé reviews, LinkedIn workshops, women in business seminars, recruiter receptions and mentor sessions with distinguished alumni, and exceeding yearly goals. Also taken into consideration was the chapter’s self-record-breaking semester of service events last spring, including hours of community service with a food bank, the Southern Boone Learning Garden: Girl Scout Earth Day, Caring for Columbia, the Daniel Boone Regional Library and a highway cleanup.

Three students attended the national convention: Chapter President Elizabeth Triplett, past-president Tanner Stitzer and Vice President of Membership Jess DeMunBrun.

“Our chapter is very excited to receive this award for the second consecutive convention,” Triplett said. “This distinction would not have been possible without our dedicated brothers and outstanding executive board members. We strive to provide the best business education and relationships possible. This award means a lot to all of us, and we hope to use it as a springboard to continue improving the quality of events we provide for our members.”

Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest professional co-ed business fraternity in the U.S. There currently are more than 350 active chapters.
