Mizzou MBAs earn third place at annual SEC Case Competition

Crosby MBA students Annie Sieckhaus, Troy Broeker, Lycus Woo and Shraddha Hegde brought home an impressive third place finish from the annual SEC MBA Case Competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday. The team competed against 13 other SEC schools, finishing behind only the Louisiana State University team, which earned first place, and the University of Tennessee team, which came in second place. Sieckhaus, Broeker, Woo and Hegde will share a $3,000 prize. 

The SEC MBA Case Competition was hosted by Louisiana State University and supported by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. The 14 competing SEC teams were tasked with solving a real business problem on behalf of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, a Louisiana-based company. Each team had 24 hours to come up with a solution and organize a presentation.

The Mizzou team worked tirelessly to prepare for this incredibly competitive event, honing their analytical and presentation skills with practice cases and coaching from Crosby MBA alumna Arpita Kumar, along with case research analyst and Crosby MBA first-year student Rebecca Hayes.

“I could not be more proud to witness how these students showcased their skills and knowledge by sharing their thoughtful and well-crafted solution with Raising Cane’s,” Director of Graduate Programs Jana Stern said. “Although only one recommendation could be chosen, these students received a unique learning experience and opportunity to address real problems business face every day and under the same realistic constraints. This is just one way the Trulaske curriculum prepares MBA students to approach challenges, and I am humbled to see just how well these students have applied what they have learned here.”
