Mission

Through active learning and personalized experiences, we prepare leaders who change the world for better and achieve success as global citizens, business leaders, scholars, innovators and entrepreneurs. Our scholars advance knowledge and contribute to shaping the future of business and society. We build partnerships to power student experiences, drive economic development and enhance societal well-being.

Societal Impact Statement

We provide high-quality educational experiences that empower under-resourced families, often supporting first-generation college students in breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty. Through strategic partnerships with local businesses, we create experiential learning opportunities that foster our students’ professional growth while simultaneously contributing to regional economic development. Our faculty actively translates cutting-edge research into actionable insights, bridging the gap between academia and industry to address real-world challenges. By providing these businesses with access to expertise, resources and talent, we contribute to their resilience and sustainable growth. Through this multifaceted approach, we aim to be a catalyst for positive change, aligning our educational mission with broader goals of social mobility, economic development and community empowerment.

Strategy: Vision 2030

Our five-year strategic plan will be based on three pillars of excellence.

Transformative Technologies for Business and Society

With continuing advancements in technology, we must prepare our students for changing occupations and the competencies needed to be successful.

To do this, we will:

  • Create a hub for building competencies at the cutting edge of transformative technologies.
  • Focus on student success by building the physical and human infrastructure necessary to support students as they prepare for their careers. By holistically adapting the Trulaske curriculum in all academic units to seamlessly integrate digital skills, analytics and AI literacy, we empower students to lead in business.
  • Strengthen and support faculty ability at the intersection of transformative technologies and business disciplines, such as digital marketing and forensic analytics.
  • Create partnerships to strengthen cross-disciplinary research, enhance curricular/co-curricular initiatives and engage industry partners.

Experience-Centered Learning

With a combination of a distinctive learning model and a set of immersive experiences, we create a unique and impactful experience-centered education for our students. This approach positions the model of learning as immersive, real-world problem solving.

To do this, we will:

  • Provide a model of learning and immersive experiences that begins the first day the student enters Cornell Hall and continues its impact throughout the academic journey to drive innovations that impact success – and envision a new physical infrastructure to support this model.
  • Create an integrated vision incorporating the various existing initiatives at Trulaske, to affect both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Support faculty research to measure the impact of activities on student outcomes.
  • Pursue key strategic partnerships in business, government and non-profit organizations, while infusing learning through experiences into the curriculum.

Entrepreneurial Mindset

Across the university, the emphasis on technology is seen through initiatives like AI in agriculture, cybersecurity in computer science and data science initiatives in the College of Arts and Science. At Trulaske, we seek to strengthen initiatives that nurture an entrepreneurial mindset in all students and expand opportunities for all students at Mizzou to build business skills.

To do this, we will:

  • Launch initiatives designed to build an entrepreneurial mindset in students and drive the success of all students and add significant support for those seeking a career pathway as entrepreneurs.
  • Support faculty research (basic and applied) on innovation/commercialization and entrepreneurial ecosystemswhich will advance knowledge in the disciplines and contribute to informing policies of economic development.
  • Use the power of our network to build and strengthen partnerships with entities like Missouri Innovation Center and accelerators in the region and beyond.
