Interning abroad with the International Trade Center was an experience that will never leave me and has instilled many values within me. While there, I had many experiences - more than one anticipates having in such a short amount of time, which I am eternally grateful for. I worked with an amazing group of young adults. Together, we pushed each other to the limit during the workweek conducting research to support our respective projects and again, on weekends, where we had the flexibility to travel or explore Prague.
I have gained skills that I can now apply to any work place and any environment needing teamwork. My Excel skills and research abilities have moved to a level beyond proficiency. At first, I was a bit nervous about compiling a report based on information that I researched within the global databases, but now I am completely comfortable with the task. My teammates and I did extensive research on the company we were representing, and as the project advanced, I found myself seeing endless application opportunities for the company to expand overseas. In the end, my team created a large, in depth report for the company that they will use to make decisions on what countries they should expand to.
This experience has not only made me a more attractive interview candidate, but it has given me a unique global mindset that will be lasting. Upon graduation I now plan on seek out job opportunities that have an international component to them. Thank you to the University of Missouri for this amazing opportunity.
