Anthony Ross
Dr. Anthony D. Ross, Sr. is the Leggett and Platt Missouri Distinguished Professor at the Robert J. Trulaske College of Business. A leading expert in supply chain operations, he has extensive experience as a scholar, business school administrator and director of industry-focused academic centers. With a foundational background in software engineering, Dr. Ross integrates technical insights into his research and teaching, bridging the gap between theory and practice in supply chain management.
Before joining the University of Missouri, Dr. Ross held the position of Donald Gordon International Fellow at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. He also served as the inaugural holder of the Rockwell Automation Endowed Chair in Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where he played a pivotal role in developing and launching a highly successful supply chain curriculum. Under his leadership, UWM’s program became the largest in the state and earned honorable mention in Gartner's Supply Chain rankings, due in part to its strong emphasis on experiential learning. Additionally, Dr. Ross founded and directed the Supply Chain Management Institute at UWM, securing nearly $3 million in corporate donations to support industry-university collaborations.
Dr. Ross’s academic career also includes positions at Michigan State University and Texas A&M University. He has published more than 70 academic papers, white papers, case studies and industry reports, with research interests spanning supply chain design, supplier performance, logistics, staff scheduling and closed-loop supply chains. Throughout his career, he has provided consulting services to companies across over 15 different industries.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Ross currently serves as President-Elect of the Decision Sciences Institute (2024-2027) and has advised numerous organizations in both academic and corporate settings.
