Business Week 2022

April 18-22

Business Week is hosted annually and is dedicated to a variety of events and programs in which students develop professional business knowledge and skills while building their personal and professional networks. Each year, more than 1,000 business students participate in a wide range of events along with corporate partners, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Business Week is coordinated by a student steering committee with oversight from the Undergraduate Advising Office.

  • Bagels For Business Week

    • Come join us in 105 Cornell Hall at 9:00 am for bagels! 
  • Department Showcase

    • Learn how to customize your business education and prepare for future career success from Trulaske faculty, current students, and alumni at the 2022 Department Showcase. This program will show you how to strategically select courses, certificates, and/or minors within your business degree to set yourself apart on the job market.

  • LinkedIn and Handshake How To
    • Handshake is a platform used for career services at MU – but do you know what it can REALLY do for you? With the right know-how, you can reach out to employers, get training, customize your profile and set yourself up for success. Learn tips, tricks and must-do’s for making Handshake work for you from the experts at Trulaske Business Career Services. Casual attire. 50 minutes is the expected time commitment.

  • Trivia Night with Veterans United
    • Think you can win against Veterans United’s trivia team? Come join network with VU while playing trivia. VU is offering 10 lucky winners some amazing prizes.
  • Managing Your Online Image and Brand
    • Your online image is not only important for your personal life, but also for your professional life. Learn helpful strategies to clean up your act and promote your personal brand. We’ll cover LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and others.

    • “What do I wear?” We’ll help you answer this question if you have an interview, career fair, networking session, or any other career event coming up. Hear from Nicolette Leiby, TAM instructor and fashion expert, who will share what color choices say about you, how to spend your money wisely on clothing, purposeful dress, and why what you wear matters.

    • Gorick Ng, Wall Street Bestselling Author of “The Unspoken Rules,” discusses how to stand out when navigating the world after graduation. Gorick is a career adviser at Harvard College, specializing in coaching first-generation, low-income students. He has worked in management consulting at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), investment banking at Credit Suisse, and research with the Managing the Future of Work project at Harvard Business School. He has been featured in Forbes, The Today Show, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BuzzFeed, New York Post, Fast Company, and CNBC.   • Honors Luncheon 
    • Join us as we celebrate the success of this academic year. The luncheon is sponsored by the Trulaske College of Business and the Recent Alumni Advisory Board.
  • Cornell to Corporate
    • From Cornell to Corporate is an opportunity to meet with recent alumni and discuss the transition from undergrad to full-time employment. The event allows students to ask members of the Recent Alumni Advisory Board (RAAB) questions about the transition and get tips on how to adjust. Business Casual Dress Code. Omar Johnson was the featured keynote speaker in 2020. Johnson is a marketing and branding keynote speaker, entrepreneur, former CMO at Beats by Dre, and former VP Marketing at Apple. At Beats Electronics, He was responsible for brand development, advertising, retail experience, entertainment / sports marketing, and digital marketing for all global brand marketing and advertising efforts. Adweek named Johnson a “Brand Genius” in 2013, and Business Insider named him one of the “Most Innovative CMOs” in 2016.
