Trulaske students do well at Missouri State DECA competition

Trulaske College of Business students made a strong showing at the Missouri State DECA competition on Feb. 25-26.

Brian Birza had the High Exam score in Marketing. Abby Peoples and Bethany Pierce got 1st place for Sports Entertainment Marketing.

Other top finishers were: Derek Dolitsky, Restaurant & Food, 2nd Place; Isaac Brizindine and Eric Collins, Event Planning, 3rd Place; Brittany Hurt, Hotel & Lodging, 3rd Place; Derek Dolitsky, Travel & Tourism, 3rd Place; Isaac Brizindine, Retail Management, 4th Place; Bethany Pierce, Retail Management, 5th place; Lauren Fiese, Fashion Merchandising, 5th Place; Adrienne Davidson, Restaurant & Food, 5th Place; Aja Williams, Banking & Financial Services, 5th Place; Eric Collins, Marketing Management, Proficient; Lauren Fiese, Retail Management, Proficient; Eric Doerhoeffer and Abby Peoples, Travel & Tourism, Proficient.

DECA’s website says its competitive events let “students to put their experience, skills and knowledge to the test while representing their college or university.” Competitive events, which are based in the areas of Business Management & Administration, Finance & Accounting, Marketing & Communications, Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality & Tourism, are judged by business and industry professionals.
