Celebrating its annual tradition, the Trulaske College of Business recently concluded Business Week, a vibrant week dedicated to honoring its students. This year’s theme was "Welcome to The Jungle," brought to life by a vine-covered balloon wall at the main entrance of Cornell Hall.

Business Week 2023

The week kicked off with the back-to-back events of the Entrepreneurship Panel and Entrepreneurship Night. Distinguished speakers Jeffery Beckham Jr. and Brianna Arps interested students with their professional insights in Bush Auditorium. After the session, students converged in the Cornell Hall Atrium for a showcase of student-owned businesses.

The following days were packed with activities. A trivia night at Shakespeare's sponsored by Veterans United, Casey’s breakfast pizza for lunch and hotdogs from The Glizzness were among the celebratory events. Additionally, students were offered valuable career insights by alumni speakers and learned about the journey of a CFO through the Global Financial Crisis. An enlightening session on everyone's favorite topic, Microsoft Excel, was also part of the week's offerings.

An integral part of Business Week is its tradition of friendly competition. "Kiss The Pig," a unique fundraising event, saw students, staff, and faculty donate to nominate their preferred faculty member to kiss a pig. There were rumors of Interim Dean Chris Robert contributing to Professor Chris Prestigiacomo’s jar. Fittingly, Professor Prestigiacomo's jar garnered the highest total, earning him the honor of being this year's winner. All proceeds from the event were directed to Tiger Pantry and Truman’s Closet, two on-campus non-profit resources for students.

Business Week 2023

The successful execution of Business Week can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Business Week committee. The committee was led by student tri-directors Lorna Peck, Monika Vanek, Grace Reichert, and staff advisor Mikala Vaughn.

As we reflect on the memorable events of Business Week, we look forward to seeing what next year has in store.
