Honors Dinner celebrates faculty, staff and student success

Students, faculty and staff were honored during Trulaske’s annual Honors Dinner.

The University of Missouri’s Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business recently honored the contributions and achievements of the Trulaske community. In addition to the recognition of alumni, friends and other distinguished honorees, the college always takes this opportunity to award faculty, staff and students for their achievements, as well. This year’s recipients included:

Faculty of the Year: Stacie Kane

Stacie Kane was recognized by Trulaske’s Student Council as Faculty Member of the Year. Kane is an assistant teaching professor in Trulaske’s Management Department. Nominators noted how welcoming Kane was outside the classroom experience and how much she cared about her students’ success.

Staff Member of the Year: Kate Elmore

Kate Elmore was honored with Trulaske Student Council’s Staff Member of the Year award. A recruitment manager in the Undergraduate Dean’s Office, Elmore was nominated for her caring nature and uplifting attitude.

 

Student Awards

Undergraduate Student Leadership Award: This award recognizes undergraduates who have demonstrated outstanding leadership within the Trulaske College of Business while achieving academic success.

Audrey Snider is a senior completing a BSBA with a major in marketing, a minor in film studies, a Digital Marketing Certificate and a Writing Intensive Certificate. Audrey is a member of Heartland Scholars Academy, vice president of First-Generation Tigers, a Trulaske student ambassador and a former peer advisor.

Emily Jurgensmeyer is a senior completing a BSBA with a major in finance and banking, an Investments Certificate and a Corporate Finance Certificate. Jurgensmeyer has served as president of the University of Missouri Investment Group (UMIG), investment analyst for the Allen Angel Capital Education Program (AACE), vice president of recruitment for Pi Beta Phi Sorority - Alpha Chapter, and on the Dean’s Student Advisory Board.

Jack Dougherty, a junior completing a BSBA with a major in management, a minor in criminology/criminal & juvenile justice, and a Multicultural Certificate, assisted in the Curriculum Review process by conducting research for the Trulaske College of Business. He is also a former peer advisor and VP of Service for Alpha Phi Omega, and currently volunteers as a youth Impact Leader for City of Refuge. He also works as an assistant in the advising office.

Maxwell Meystrik, a senior completing a BSBA with a major in finance and banking, a BS in mathematics, and a BS in statistics, is a Trulaske student ambassador, member of the Cornell Leadership Program, and professional development pledge trainer for Alpha Kappa Psi. He also serves on the Trulaske Leadership Conference Executive Board and as vice president of TigerQuant.

Nathan Smith, a senior in the 150-hour accountancy program, is a lead program ambassador for the National Science Foundation. He is also co-founder and head of strategy for Golden HomeShare, an investment analyst for the Allen Angel Capital Education Program, vice president of professional development for Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity, and vice president of marketing for the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization.

 

Edward J. Rapp Award for Excellence in Leadership: This award recognizes undergraduate business students who embody core values of ethical and servant leadership through their performance, service, and commitment to Mizzou and the community.  The recipients are highly regarded as individuals of uncompromised character and integrity who epitomize the servant leader.

Claire Wenck

 

Claire Wenck is a senior in the 150-hour accountancy program and is also completing a minor in economics. Wenck is a Trulaske student ambassador and peer advisor, a summer welcome leader, and a member of the Association of Accounting Students, the MO Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and Phi Sigma Theta National Honors Society.

 

Vairam Arunachalam Servant Leadership Award: This award recognizes Trulaske students who have demonstrated exceptional service and leadership.  This award, established by alumni, is intended for students who have provided extraordinary service to others (e.g., colleagues, community, college/university) and demonstrated an orientation to leadership through serving and helping others.

Chase McQueary

 

Chase McQueary is a senior completing a BSBA with an emphasis in finance and banking and a BS in economics, a minor in entrepreneurship & innovation, an Investments Certificate, and a Corporate Finance Certificate. McQueary is the managing director for the AACE, chief marketing officer of UMIG, and a member of the Cornell Leadership Program. He also previously served as president of the Trulaske College of Business Student Council and was previously president and captain of men’s club lacrosse.

Emerging Student Leader Award Winners: This award recognizes individuals who are making a positive impact on the college and excelling in other areas around campus. Together, this year’s recipients have shown leadership individually through Business Ambassadors, CPG Pathway, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Vasey Academy, and UMIG. Student Council Students of the Year Awards

 

Student Council Students of the Year Awards: This award recognizes outstanding leadership by undergraduate business or accountancy students during their junior or senior year. The award is intended for students who model leadership beyond a single department or student organization. Combined, this year’s recipients have worked as a peer advisor, led summer welcome, contributed to the college-wide curriculum review, participated in Alpha Kappa Psi, and served as ambassadors for Business and Trulaske Edge.
