Accountancy

Sachu Sarasan is a PhD student in the School of Accountancy, Robert J. Trulaske, Sr., College of Business at the University of Missouri. His research interests include Auditing and Financial Accounting topics, earnings management and fraud, financial reporting, auditing, and capital markets. In particular, he is interested in understanding how managers manipulate accounting numbers or engage in fraudulent practices, the consequences of such behavior for investors and other stakeholders, and the effectiveness of auditing in detecting and constraining misreporting. He is also interested in examining the role of financial reporting quality in shaping capital market outcomes and how regulatory oversight influences transparency and trust in financial information.

Prior to joining Mizzou, Sarasan worked as a Manager of Operations and Human Resources at an audit firm, where he primarily developed internal audit programs for clients, managed various projects, and oversaw the entire employee cohort. In addition, he worked as an independent instructor at Christ University, Bangalore, India, teaching courses such as Management Accounting, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Business Statistics and Mathematics, and Business Environment. In his free time, he enjoys trying new foods and taking spontaneous trips.
