Ed Rapp: US Competitiveness: A Call To Action

Ed Rapp is a group president and CFO of Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, Ill., the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. Caterpillar is a Fortune 500 company with 2010 sales and revenues of more than $42 billion.

He was appointed to his current position in 2007 and is responsible for the Finance Services Division, Human Services Division, Global Information Services, Global Purchasing Division and Financial Products Division, as well as Strategy & Business Development, Corporate Auditing and Investor Relations. Named an officer in 2000, Rapp previously held positions in San Francisco, CA; Cary, NC; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Geneva, Switzerland.

Rapp earned his BS BA with an emphasis in finance from the University of Missouri in 1979 and is a graduate of the University of Illinois Executive Development program. He has served the college as a Professor-for-a Day and later as a Distinguished Alumni Lecturer. He currently serves on the college’s Strategic Development Board. In 2010, the college awarded him with a Citation of Merit.
