Students who have previously completed courses equivalent to any of the required courses may elect to substitute another graduate level finance course with the approval of the Director of the MS Finance program.

Elective Courses

Elective course credit hours: minimum of 12

MS Finance students choose elective courses to complete a total of 30 credit hours for the degree:

  • Any 7000 or 8000 level course in FINANC (minimum of 9 credit hours)
  • Any 7000 or 8000 level course, with the approval of the Director of the MS Finance program, offered by the following departments: any Agricultural Economics, Architectural Studies, Economics, Management, Marketing, Personal Financial Planning, Statistics, School of Accountancy, and the School of Law. (maximum of 9 credit hours)

Thesis Option

A master’s thesis project is not a requirement for the MS Finance degree. Students may elect to write a thesis with the approval of the Director of the MS Finance program. The thesis will be assigned from 3 to 6 elective credit hours.
