Curriculum

First 8-weeks

Business Analytics (3): Approaches statistical thinking methods to address real-world business data and problems. Addresses communication of results in a managerial format for strategic decision making.

Organizational Behavior (3): Examines team dynamics, performance management, crisis management and l leadership. Includes study of current business leaders and challenges they face.

Second 8-weeks

Accounting for Managers (3): Analyzes accounting information in the context of making informed decisions in high-level business settings. Focuses on the real-world application of accounting concepts and procedures.

Advanced Managerial Marketing (3): Develops knowledge and skills to manage marketing activities by applying relevant concepts in strategy development, marketing planning and implementation of marketing mix decisions.

First 8-weeks

Economics for Managers (3): Examines how consumer behavior and the managerial decision making process affect supply, demand and prices of goods and services in the market.

Business Policy and Regulation (3): Understand first-hand how public policies can create opportunities or threats for organizations, and how they can develop and organize their resources to participate effec-tively in the public policy process.

Second 8-weeks

Managerial Finance (3): Builds on financial management concepts like time value of money and capital budgeting. Covers executive-level ideas including the risk-return tradeoff, corporate payout policies and mergers and acquisitions.

Professional Advancement Series (1): Executive development and leadership.

International Study Abroad

BUS AD 8730 International Business and Global Experience (6): This global academic residency is an 8-9 day international experience, split between two global locations, that provides an understanding of issues related to international business practices. Focuses on the importance of contextual intelligence in a business world where perspectives are challenged by differing cultural, institutional and enterprise arrangements. Develops a rich understanding of the multiple influences on businesses around the world. This international experience includes company visits and meetings with local executives. A majority of the cost of the international residency of program is in included in tuition.

Past locations have included Santiago, Chile; Munich, Germany; Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary. In June 2019 the class traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

First 8-weeks

Operations and Supply Chain Management (3): Examines the main facets of opera-tions management. Covers both the business processes and production processes neces-sary to deliver either a service or a product.

Leadership Topics (3): Focuses on developing and refining leadership competencies, styles and actions to influence performance outcomes within teams, departments, organizations and ad hoc situations.

Second 8-weeks

Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship (3): Focuses on the competencies managers need to become successful innovators in entrepreneurial ventures and in existing firms. Covers entrepreneurial finance, risk, creativity and trend analysis.

Professional Advancement Series (1): Executive development and leadership.

First 8-weeks

Portfolio Theory and Financial Statements (3): Introduces financial markets and investment alternatives, such as equity, fixed income, and derivatives. Covers equity valuation, the concept of diversification and portfolio management. Competitive Marketing Strategy and

Brand Management (3): Develops analytical skills to formulate and implement analytics-based marketing strategies in a competitive environment. Introduces the importance of brands, brand equity and brand strategy.

Second 8-weeks

Business Environment & Strategy (3): Investigates the link between strategy and value creation, appropriation and preservation, including assessment of a firm’s internal resources and its external environment. Analyzes the differences in strategy for single line-of-business firms and diversified firms with a focus on assessing and analyzing strategies in context and relative to competitors. Utilizes cases and current events.

The classmates in your cohort will become your staunchest allies, from whom you will gain academic, professional and personal support. You’ll also join the Mizzou family. From the time you start classes, you’ll have the opportunity to network and connect with other Mizzou students, alumni and corporate partners within the execMBA program and the Trulaske College of Business. You'll also have access to Mizzou resources, such as our extensive online library collection, and what Mizzou offers its students: football games, speakers and the Tiger network.

The On-Campus residency

Throughout the program, execMBA students are scheduled to attend four, on-campus weekend orientations. Travel to campus pending status of COVID-19. See a typical schedule of this weekend below:

Friday

  • 7:30-8 a.m.: Breakfast
  • 8 a.m.-Noon: Class
