Mark A. Johnson is Vice President of Integrated Media Sales, at Valassis, a leader in intelligent media delivery. The company provides over 15,000 advertisers with proven and innovative media solutions to influence consumers wherever they plan, shop, buy and share. Johnson leads Team Solutions, which provides media solutions to the restaurant and retail industry.
Since joining Valassis in 1992, Johnson has held numerous leadership positions, including Vice President of Sales, Neighborhood Targeted Products and Services, and Newspaper and Print Solutions. He has also trained and assisted the sales organization in identifying and closing key print and newspaper opportunities. He has been successful in selling preprinted inserts and digital advertising to America’s Top 100 advertisers. He has also managed business for several newspaper-delivered and direct-to-door products and services and has also played a key role in product management, product development, product pricing, manufacturing (printing), distribution and customer marketing.
Before joining Valassis, Johnson gained extensive experience with the New York Times Magazine Group, as Director of Single Copy Sales, where he managed local and national single copy sales, marketing and distribution for numerous consumer magazines, such as People, Sports Illustrated, Time, Family Circle, McCall’s, Golf Digest, Tennis and Child.
Johnson earned his BA in Sociology from the University of Missouri in 1982. He is a member of Marketing Advisory Board at the University of Missouri and has returned over the last several years as a guest professor.
