Robin Carnahan: The Do's and Don'ts of Dealing with State Regulators

Robin Carnahan recently finished serving as Missouri’s Secretary of State for eight years (2005-2013).   Among her many duties, Carnahan’s office enforced the state’s securities laws, negotiated the return of over $10 billion to investors and oversaw registration and licensing of Missouri’s 134,000 brokers and financial professionals.  Carnahan was recognized as a national leader among state regulators during the financial reform debate, including both Dodd-Frank and the 2012 JOBS Act and served as Co-Chair of the Securities Committee of the National Association of Secretaries of State.  She has been a strong advocate for finding regulatory solutions that strike a sensible balance between investor protections and efficient access to capital markets.  In addition, Carnahan also has been a leader in using innovative technology solutions to transform government service delivery to better serve customers.
