Prior to the teaching engagement at the University of Missouri, Surya Mantrala worked for several years as an analyst for a large database marketing company Bradford Exchange in Niles, Illinois. She also worked for A.C. Nielsen (number one Marketing Research Company in the world), in Deerfield, Illinois, as a manager in the quantitative modeling area.
Upon receiving her doctorate in Economics from University of Florida, Surya worked at AT&T for several years and then taught at University of Florida. Surya has also been managing her own company Markdown-Management Inc. since 1995.
