Staff Members Receive University and College Awards

Four College of Business staff members received campuswide accolades in April. The next month, two staff members were surprised at the college’s Staff Recognition Luncheon with announcements that they were the recipients of the college’s Outstanding Staff Service Awards for this year.

In remarks about one of the award winners, a student leader captured the feelings of students as well as faculty and staff members about the college’s staff.  Speaking about Jim Sharrock, director of academic advising, Katie Collier said, “I believe Jim deserves this award because he is a wonderful mentor and friend.  It is obvious that he cares about us as people, not just as students, because he offers useful advice on more than just the academic side of our college experience.  He is always looking for ways to improve the College of Business, especially through student organizations.

“The college is so fortunate to have talented and hard-working staff members.  They deserve their awards – and our thanks,” said Dean Bruce Walker.
