Phyllis Moore is the Director of the 150-Hour and Master of Accountancy Programs at MU. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and an MBA. Following graduation, she was a high school business teacher in the Kansas City area. Her husband was transferred to San Antonio in 1979 and then she moved to Columbia in 1989. She began working at MU in 1990 and became the accountancy advisor in 1996, beginning with the first junior class in the 150-hour accountancy program. In addition to advising, Phyllis was the advisor for the Business Student Ambassador program and in charge of recruiting activities for the college. She has taught a Learning Strategies class at MU and will be the co-facilitator of the Accountancy Freshman Interest Group (FIG) in the fall. She is a member and past chair of MU’s Advisors Forum, a member and past board member of the Missouri Academic Advising Association, and a member of the National Academic Advising Association. She serves on a variety of campus-wide committees and boards. She was tapped for Omicron Delta Kappa and has served as District Director for Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. She has been recognized for her efforts with MU’s Outstanding Advising Award and the State Outstanding Advising Award in 2004. In addition, Phyllis received the College of Business Outstanding Staff Service Award for 2003-2004 and has been recognized as outstanding staff member from the business students several times.
Phyllis and husband, Bill, have two sons. She is an avid sports fan, especially Mizzou sports, likes to cook, play golf, and enjoys her involvement in community activities. Phyllis is a member of the Professional Leaders Auxiliary of the Assistance League of Mid-Missouri, Columbia Women’s Club, the Jefferson Club and Mizzou Alumni Association.
