Business Writing Workshop

When: 2/17/2009

According to a recent WSJ/Harris Interactive survey, an annual MBA recruiter assessment, The College Journal from The Wall Street Journal recently listed inferior writing skills as the top complaint among MBA recruiters nationwide.  Recruiters state that what really distinguishes the most sought-after schools and MBA graduates are the "soft skills" of communication and leadership.  In fact, communication skills consistently rank among the top 3 skills/qualities employers seek in prospective employees.  Regardless if you have a 4.0 GPA or a whiz at highly complicated analytic problems, if you cannot write a simple cover letter without grammatical errors or in the proper business format, or master conveying complex messages effectively, you may inadvertently sabotage your opportunity for interviews with prospective employers, or more importantly, long-term career success.  In this workshop, we will provide insight on how you can continue to polish your writing skills, with particular emphasis on cover letters, thank-you letters, job applications, emails, and other professional business correspondence.
