Test & Transfer Credit

Can I take summer classes at another accredited college or university?

If you are planning to take a course at another accredited college or university during the summer, you should have that course approved in advance by your advisor and completing a Transfer Approval Form. If you are taking a course at an institution in Missouri, you can get an idea of the MU equivalency through the course equivalencies link. If you are planning to take a course at an institution outside Missouri, you will need to attach a course description from the institution's catalog or website to the course substitution form. You can take up to 64 hours at a community college. The residency requirement says that all students must complete 30 of their last 36 hours prior to graduation in residence at MU.  To remain eligible for Latin Honors, students must complete their last 50 hours in the UM System.

What are the requirements for transfer admissions?

Transfer students with fewer than 24 credit hours are admitted to the College of Business if they meet the University admission requirements. The transcripts of students with over 24 credit hours are evaluated to determine if the student will be able to complete requirements to apply to an upper-level emphasis area by the semester after they have completed 60 credits, and 12 credits in the UM System. The requirements to apply to upper level are: minimum UM GPA 2.6, completed or have in progress English 1000, Management 1010, Math 1300, Math 1320, Stat 2500, Economics 1014, Economics 1015, Accounting 2036 and Accounting 2037. Admission to the upper level is competitive and based on space available.

What type of credit do I get for classes I took through my high school?

If you are awarded college credit for courses you took in high school they will be evaluated the same as courses that are taken during the summer away from University of Missouri.

How do I get credit for AP Courses?

If you are taking AP courses in high school, it is important to know that you MUST take the test at the end of the course. The College of Business only accepts credit for the class if the test is taken. Be sure to have your high school send MU's Admissions Office your scores.
