Interviewing Tips

  • Thoroughly understand what is included on your resume.
  • Be prepared to explain your role whenever listing group achievements or goals achieved.
  • Make clear the relevance between what you have done and the requirements of the position for which you are interviewing.
  • Explain how your strengths and relevant skills have repeatedly surfaced:
    • Education
    • Work Experience
    • Community Involvement
    • Personal Interests
  • Learn interviewer’s full name, the correct pronunciation and his or her title.
  • Don’t answer questions with a simple “yes” or “no.” Explain whenever possible.
  • Never make unnecessary derogatory remarks about your present or former employers. Stay positive.
  • Ask questions. A lack of questions may be mistaken as a lack of interest.
  • Use the interview process for your own benefit.
  • Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  • Relax and be yourself
