COLUMBIA, Mo. – Alaine Arnott, an MBA student in the Trulaske College of Business, was selected as the marshal for master’s degree candidates at the MU Graduate School commencement held on May 15. Chosen for her outstanding achievements as well as contribution to her academic program, Arnott led the procession of graduates and was first to receive her degree.
"Alaine’s selection as a student marshal is wonderful recognition for the types of leaders we have in the Crosby MBA Program – those who work hard, achieve academically, and serve their community diligently," said Joe Stephens, director of the Crosby MBA Program. Stephens added that Arnott's personal drive serves as an example for others on campus. "Specifically, Alaine carries an immeasurable 'get-it-done' attitude, further strengthened by her deep passion for the students she represents," said Stephens.
Arnott, who took a post-graduation position at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, served as president of both the MBA Association and the Graduate Professional Council. She founded the Crosby MBA 5K Run/Walk, which raised more than $3,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its inaugural year. She was an active member of the Griffiths Leadership Society for Women, and earned a 3.9 GPA while in the MBA program.
"I really appreciate that the MBA program nominated me, and I was honored to represent the program and the business school at such a significant event," said Arnott.
Since 2000, six Crosby MBA students have been chosen to serve as commencement marshals: Emre Unlu, Damien and Magda Kalinowski, John Pelikan, Christie Masters, and most recently this past December, Jon Jarvis.
