Luis Jimenez

Luis Jimenez, Crosby MBA ‘11, won the Elevator Pitch Competition in the Biomedical Sciences division of the Missouri Technology Expo 2010. Eighteen companies from all over Missouri competed, and Dermelle, LLC, at which Luis is the CEO, was selected as a winner.  Most participants were faculty, PhD candidates, and professionals; however, Luis was the only MBA student!  Luis is a citizen of Honduras and has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. Bandhana Katoch, Crosby MBA ’08 and Marketing and Business Development Analyst at the Office of Intellectual Property Administration for the University of Missouri System, initiated the idea of the Expo and organized the event.

Xandra Sifuentes

Xandra Sifuentes, Crosby MBA ‘10, was recently named Emerging Business Woman of the Year by the Columbia Daily Tribune.  She is the CEO of Adroit Motion, a locally based high-tech startup that creates life-saving medical devices. Through a high-growth venture MBA class Xandra led the Adroit Motion business team to the MU Crosby MBA’s first appearance at the world’s largest business plan competition at Rice University, where they won $24,100 in cash awards.  Her background includes a B.S. in Computer Science from MU in 2004 and engineering positions at Honeywell International and Garmin International. Xandra chose to engage in biomedical innovation and to explore the world of entrepreneurship in lieu of a more traditional corporate career path.

Dan Sewell

The national Student Veterans Association (SVA) recently named Dan Sewell, Crosby MBA ’11, Student Veteran of the Year.  Dan served in the U.S. Air Force from 2003-2007 and now is a member of the Missouri Air National Guard.  He is in the dual Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and MBA Program.  While Dan was President of the University of Missouri chapter of SVA, membership more than quadrupled and additional services such as mentoring and housing assistance for veterans and their families were created.  Dan also established and teaches a “Learning and Transition Strategies for Veterans” class and has led outreach efforts to assist homeless veterans in the local  community.

Adam Rubemeyer Adam Rubemeyer, Crosby MBA '11, completed his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in December 2010 and as a dual BSIE/MBA degree student, will graduate in one additional year.  Adam is among 300 students selected out of 3,300 nationally, and the first of two from MU, to receive the Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship by the Department of Defense (DoD).  He is a research assistant with Jim Noble, Professor of IMSE and of the “Six Sigma Consulting Methodology” course in the MU MBA summer program in Ireland.  They completed a CELDi (MU Center for Excellence in Logistics and Distribution) project with Boeing in August, developing models to reduce energy usage in the supply chain. They have started a new CELDi project with Boeing, analyzing optimal inventory allocation models for Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) contracts for military aircraft. Adam used this research as part of his SMART application, which was sent to military bases around the country, and will work with the research and analysis division of the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas upon graduation, as part of the SMART program.

Congratulations to the Crosby MBA team for winning 3rd place in the annual Big XII Case CompetitionJustin Schott, Jeff Luker, Tyler Beckett and Robert Kaverman traveled to Boulder, Colorado April 1-2 to compete against 10 other schools.  The competition was sponsored this year by University of Colorado.  University of Missouri will host this competition in 2013!
