Chase Daniel, an undergraduate business student with an area of emphasis in finance, was named one of 15 National Football Foundation 2008 Scholar-Athlete Award winners. An $18,000 post-graduate scholarship accompanies the award.

Daniel was excited to hear the news of the award. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given here at Mizzou. We’ve got a world-class business school with incredible professors and other people who help make it happen every day for me,” he said.  “It’s an incredible honor. I think it’s great that the National Football Foundation takes the time to recognize all of these outstanding football players who are also excellent students,” Daniel added.

Daniel is the second Tiger quarterback under Coach Gary Pinkel to win this award.  Previously, Brad Smith, also a business student, earned a post-graduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation.

Daniel led the Tigers to a 30-23 overtime win against Northwestern in the Valero Alamo Bowl in December. Finishing the game with 229 yards of total offense, Daniel set the single-season MU record for total offense with 4,616 yards. His 13,486 career yards of total offense puts him seventh in NCAA history.
