We want to ensure that you succeed when you make that transition from the classroom to the board room. As a participant in the Professional Development Program, you will gain the skills and experiences necessary for success in the professional world. These skills include the ability to lead and motivate others, adapt to change, learn continuously, manage your personal and professional development, and communicate your ideas effectively, both as a writer and a speaker. This comprehensive program will ensure that you graduate with the ability to apply your knowledge in a practical business environment.
The Professional Development Program is divided into three main components. The following are graduation requirements for the Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degree:
- You must earn a minimum of 70 PDP points (attend approximately 7 events) for admission to the upper level. You can earn points by attending seminars and other activities. Once admitted to the upper level, students must continue to earn PDP points. A total of 200 PDP points are required for graduation. A maximum of 100 PDP points can be earned while in the lower level.
- Upon admittance to the upper level, students will complete a professional development course - Management 3500 (3 credit hours). This course is a pre-requisite to the PDP internship.
- A required, three-credit internship experience which can include either a traditional internship or service learning project in the community. The internship must be a minimum of 120 service hours and 8 consecutive weeks long, and must have a project component. The internship can be either paid or unpaid. Internship opportunities must be approved by the PDP office (126 Cornell Hall) at least 3 weeks prior to your start date.
