Prospective Students

Mizzou Means Business

Success in the business world requires more than knowledge and intelligence – future leaders and professionals need strong communication skills, presence, and the power to make strategic decisions.  In the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri, students learn beyond the classroom and gain the skills needed to be well-rounded, marketable professionals.
The Professional Development Program is comprehensive in its approach to ensuring that all undergraduate students leave with a wide range of competencies that are necessary for success in an increasingly competitive and global world.  This new, innovative program provides students with the following opportunities:

  • Attending a wide range of seminars, panels and lectures from top executives, corporate leaders and distinguished alumni.  Recent speakers include David Novak, Chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands, Inc. and Senator Paul Sarbanes, co-author of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Participating in an internship or service learning practicum with a local for-profit or non-profit organization over the course of a semester.
  • Attending a variety of skill-building workshops and events, such as resume workshops, etiquette dinners and Mock Interview Day.
  • Participating in a professional development course designed to strengthen the way students manage businesses and people.  Students develop the ability to communicate effectively with others, conduct themselves in a professional manner, develop the ability to lead and motivate others, and apply their business knowledge in a real business environment.

Students who graduate from the Trulaske College of Business enter the workforce with the skills, experience and networking connections to succeed in the professional world.
