Students "Catch" Success from Notable Speakers

By Kathy Love

If success is contagious, students in the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business will be exposed in a big way with the spring semester speakers’ roster.

Imagine meeting and talking with Ralph Babb, chairman and CEO of Comerica, one of the 20 largest banks in the U.S., or having a Q & A session with Warren Buffett. Exposure to today’s great business leaders of our time helps students “catch” the secrets of success.

“We get to learn from the experiences of presidents, CEOs, managers, and other top-level executives, about an incredible variety of business cases and issues. The lectures and luncheons are highly beneficial and a great addition to my classes," says Rob Brandt, a second-year MBA student.

Spring semester speakers include:

  • Bill Gross, managing director and chief investment officer of PIMCO, Feb. 21

  • Ralph Babb, chairman and CEO of Comerica Bank, Feb. 28

  • Brad Buechler, former chairman and CEO of Spartech, April 3

  • Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, April 4
Emerging Issues & Trends in Real Estate Forum

  • Bill Zollars, CEO, chairman, and president of YRC Worldwide, Inc., April 10

  • Mike Harreld, executive VP of Southern Company Service, Inc., April 17

  • Steve Furbacher, recently retired president of Dynegy, Inc., May 1

Q&A with Buffett

On March 14, Trulaske business students will be returning to Nebraska to visit with Warren Buffett.  This trip is the third time MU students have had an opportunity to meet with the "Oracle of Omaha."
