Billur Akdeniz is a third-year PhD candidate in Marketing at Michigan State University. She earned a BA degree in Economics and an MBA degree (specialization in marketing strategy) from Bogazici University, Turkey. Billur’s dissertation research, drawing from signaling theory, focuses on the long-term effects of the gap between perceived and actual quality of brands on brand performance and consumer’s brand choice and the importance of reducing the quality-marketing conflict in intra-firm dynamics. Other research interests include economic efficiency assessment through data envelopment and stochastic frontier analysis in dealership networks and new product development projects, multi-level models, marketing strategy metrics, and international marketing. Billur has manuscripts under review in Industrial Marketing Management and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. She has presented at the 2007 Winter and Summer AMA Conferences. In addition, she has taught courses in Quantitative Business Research Methods and Introduction to Marketing.
