Research and Teaching Assistantships

Students are assigned to specific faculty members to work as research assistants during the first two years in the program. This is a strong feature of the PhD program as it facilitates the development of a mentoring relationship with research faculty. Faculty willingness to mentor students is a prime factor in making RA assignments.

Students work as teaching assistants in the third and fourth years of the program. TA appointments are made by the Director of the School of Accountancy, in consultation with the PhD Program Director. Throughout the year, the University offers a number of programs for PhD students designed to facilitate the development of teaching skills.
