Mizzou Business Online - September 2007
Welcome to the redesigned Mizzou Business Online, which coincides with our "new and improved" college website. This semester could not be off to a better start for our college. In fact, in this e-newsletter, we highlight several "first-time-ever" achievements and activities for the MU College of Business.
The MU College of Business Crosby MBA Program received a ranking of #28 among "regional" MBA programs in the September 17 issue of The Wall Street Journal. The MU program had the third highest ranking among MBA programs at Big 12 universities. Among public universities, MU ranked #19 in the combined national and regional lists presented by the Journal.
The MU College of Business' undergraduate program earned top-50 status with a ranking of #48 in U.S. News & World Report, designating the MU BS BA program as "one of America's best."
"Rankings provide hard-earned recognition for our programs and also confirm our efforts to ensure that students in the College of Business are receiving a world-class education," says Bruce Walker, dean of the MU College of Business.
From tips on making it in the world of commercial lending to the essentials of property management, students interested in commercial real estate received expert advice from local and regional industry leaders at The Many Facets of Real Estate Forum held on September 14. More than 50 students from real estate courses were invited to attend the forum and luncheon, where they listened to and asked questions of seven high-level executives in the real estate industry.
The college is pleased to present the Distinguished Alumni Lecture "Q & A with a Wall Street Legend" with Alan "Ace" Greenberg (BS BA '49), chairman of the executive committee from The Bear Stearns Companies. Come to Columbia or see it live via webcast on October 12.
For the past 18 years, Steve Ferris has had — in a very real sense — two professional lives. His primary role has been as a finance professor. His excellence and productivity in this role earned him the honor of being the Rogers Chair of Money, Credit and Banking. In addition, he has served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. His effectiveness in this role resulted in a series of promotions, all the way up to the rank of Commander.
We hope you will find that this update to our website has made it more user friendly and visually appealing. We want you to be able to learn more about the college and find the information you need, while also getting a sense of all that Mizzou's business school has to offer.
