A primary advantage of a full-time day program is that it is more than a series of courses to be completed. The Crosby MBA program’s focus on professional development enhances the academic curriculum and provides opportunities for personal growth. For example:
-
Orientation - Designed to serve a number of functions such as easing the transition to a demanding graduate program, developing a sense of community among the new students and sharing information on areas such as career planning, faculty expectations and global perspectives.
-
Career Leader self-assessment – A sophisticated web-based instrument to assist students in identifying their interests, values and abilities, and learn how those perspectives relate to various industries and functions.
-
Personal career counseling sessions
- In addition to reviewing your interest inventory, a career services staff member will review your perception of your strengths and weaknesses and work with you on developing a plan to address those areas that are in need of attention.
-
MBA Professional Development Seminar
– A series of three one-credit courses including career events, highlighted by a speaker series in which senior business executives and other leaders share their experiences and insights on a variety of issues. Small group interactions with guests are very common and students often join speakers for conversations at lunch or at receptions after the events.
-
Alumni Mentorship Program (AMP)
– This program matches students with business executives who volunteer their services to assist Crosby MBA students. These one-on-one relationships provide an excellent way for students to learn about a certain field/industry and network with business professionals.
-
Study abroad
–Global business practices will be the norm for the future. Study marketing in London/Paris over the spring intersession or take business classes in Italy in the summer. Learn firsthand about the dynamic development of the global economy.
-
Case competitions - Participate in a an MBA case competition such as the Big 12 case competition or entrepreneurial business plan competitions. Student teams that qualify for the finals of any competition will have their expenses covered by the Crosby MBA program.
-
Team consulting projects – Two opportunites as part of the required curriculum, to work with a team of students to analyze a real-world business issue. Extensive client contact is required.
