Scholarships

Each year, the School of Accountancy awards scholarships on the basis of GPA to students who are admitted to the 150-Hour Program.

Students considered for these awards must be full-time accountancy majors already admitted to the Trulaske College of Business and the 150-hour accountancy program.

Kenneth L. Brown Scholarship Student in School of Accountancy, preference shall be given to students who are members of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, additional preference  shall be students who ar serving, or have served, as elected officers of the fraternity. Grace Botner Butler Scholarship 5th year or senor student; Missouri resident, living in a non-urban area (an area other than the Kansas City and St. Louis metropolitan areas); minimum gpa of 3.0; demonstrated financial need; preference given to non-traditional students with first preference given to female non-traditional students. If no female non-traditional students apply or meet the criteria then the award may be made available to male non-traditional students. Selection made by Director or SOA Committee.

Arthur William Hoffman Scholarship

For scholarships in accounting for orphans in financial need. Orphans shall be defined as those students who have not attained the age of twenty-one, and whose mother and father are deceased.

Strong academic achievement; financial need, with achievements and demonstrated capabilities related to leadership, student activities, or community service; fifth-year accountancy students who are specializing in tax.

Need-based scholarship program, recipient will be in the high need category for financial aid; undergraduate students who are studying or plan to study accounting; Missouri resident; preference shall be given to incoming freshmen and/or transfer students who have earned an AA degree prior to enrolling at MU.

Grant Thornton Scholarship Student in School of Accountancy, academic achievement. Preference given to students from Kansas City area.
Patricia R. Vasterling Memorial Scholarship Full-time female student majoring in accounting; minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; financial need. Three candidates' names shall be submitted to the family for review. From this list, the family shall indicate their number one, two and three choices for the award. Using family recommendations final selection of the recipient(s) shall be by the Director or SOA Committee.
