Career Exploration

Before beginning your job search, you must identify the career path you plan to follow. What career options excite you? Ask yourself these questions:

  • Would I enjoy working with people? If so, in what way?
  • Would I enjoy working with data? If so, in what way?
  • Do I want to work in an environment where I can be physically active? Or is a desk job more my style?
  • Do I enjoy selling ideas, products, concepts to others? Am I persuasive?
  • Do I prefer autonomy in my work so I am free to make decisions as needed?
  • Am I comfortable with ambiguity on the job, or would I prefer structure?

Try to envision what your ideal job would be like every day and identify a career path that would include these qualities and start identifying potential employers.
