Videos Provide an Inside Look at Educational Activities

As a recipient of the 2005-06 Maxine A. Jagels and Lee Lewis Wharton Scholarship in the School of Accountancy, Theresa Chiu personally knows the impact that alumni can have at the MU College of Business.  So she was excited to participate in a new project for the college that was part of The Herbert J. Davenport Society's annual banquet.  Theresa had a “starring role” in one of five video vignettes the college produced for the October 2006 banquet, which celebrates private support of the college.

“Alumni give back with donations and with their time,” says Chiu, who was in the video and also introduced a vignette about student services at the banquet.  “This was a fun way for me to do my part for the college, too.”  The other vignettes covered MBA consulting projects, professional development of students, the VaseyAcademy, and scholarly research. 

“There are so many more opportunities and activities available to students compared to my time here,” says Bill Linnenbringer (BS Acc ’70), a member of the college’s Strategic Development Board who attended the banquet.  “I enjoy coming to the Society’s annual gathering to visit and reminisce with friends and fellow alums, but it was also inspiring to see what our students experience on a daily basis.  It makes me want to stay involved.”

The vignettes are now available for online viewing.  Each vignette includes a student or faculty introduction from the evening of the Davenport Society and a two- to three- minute vignette about the topic.
