Larry Mandel is an independent consultant and advisor to private equity investors, developers and syndicators specializing in multifamily and affordable housing. Larry has 30 years experience in banking, finance and real estate, mining and oil and gas. From 1996 to 2006, Larry was Managing Director of General Electric Capital Corporation Real Estate Group and a Senior Vice President at Heller Financial (acquired by GECC in 2001) as leader of its Affordable Housing Group. Larry and his team provided more than $2.5 billion debt and equity funding for the development, renovation and preservation of over 45,000 units in over 300 properties located in 46 states. Larry has also held various positions of increasing responsibility at Household Finance (now HSBC) and Continental Bank (now Bank of America). Larry earned his MBA at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a BA with honors in political science and philosophy at Brandeis. He is Green Belt Six Sigma certified and attended the MDC course at GE’s Crotonville, New York campus. Larry presently resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
