Study in Lisbon and Madrid between Semesters

This year the College of Business is again offering its very popular January intersession course--but this time in Lisbon and Madrid. MU students will once again have the opportunity to take a course in International Business during the first two weeks of January. This is a MU course taught by MU professor, Steve Ferris, who has taught the course for the last four years. The course is conducted entirely in English including the company visits in each city. No knowledge of a foreign language is required. The first week of the course will be in Lisbon while the second week will be in Madrid. Students will fly out of St Louis on Saturday, December 27, 2008 and return home on Saturday, January 10, 2009.  MU classes don’t start until Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

The course will emphasize an understanding of global business and the material will be accessible to a wide range of student preparations. The course schedule is designed so that there will be abundant opportunities for free time and experiential learning in both of the cities. Three visits in each city to Portuguese and Spanish firms are included in the class. Pre-departure class sessions will be held weekly beginning on October 22, 2208. This is an excellent opportunity to shift 3 credit hours to January and lighten your course load during the winter semester. The extra hours you can then work would help to pay for the course or you can effectively realize an 15 hour semester by taking 3 hours during January and 12 normal credit hours during the winter semester.

If interested in  this tremendous opportunity to experience the excitement of world travel and to learn first hand about international business in world class companies, then contact Professor Ferris by email ( ferriss@missouri.edu ), by phone (882-9905) or in person (404 Cornell Hall), or his secretary, Ms. Tiffany Williams at 882-3800.
