Assistant Teaching Professor. B.S. University of Missouri, 1986; M.S. University of Missouri, 1995; Ph.D. University of Missouri, 1997. Professor Bier is a member of the Institute of High Performance Planners, the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and the Southern Management Association. He currently teaches Operations Management for the University of Missouri’s College of Business and serves as the Co-Director of the Flegel-Source Interlink Academy of Aspiring Entrepreneurs. He has worked on numerous consulting projects involving project planning. He has served in a variety of engineering, management, and academic positions for Stephens College, the University of Missouri–Rolla, the U.S. Army Engineer School, and the Missouri Department of Corrections. He was a resident “intrapreneur” for the Army’s Engineer School where he conducted several feasibility studies aimed at broadening the scope of product and service offerings of the organization. He has conducted complex feasibility studies for speculative, multi-disciplinary products requiring external funding. He has taught both business and engineering students at the undergraduate and graduate level through both resident and non-traditional formats. He has facilitated courses in entrepreneurship, management, organizational behavior, total quality management, project management, production/operations management, human resources, and policy and strategy. Dr. Bier serves on several committees in academic and professional settings. He has served on the Stephens College Strategic Planning Committee and has chaired the Stephens College Planning and Budget Committee. He has served as a Reviewer/Editor for the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He currently chairs the Boone County Board of Adjustment for Boone County, Missouri.
