Alan Skouby graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1958. He attended the Stanford-Sloan executive development program in ’66 – ’67 and received a master’s in economics from Stanford in 1969. He obtained his CMA certification in 1979. He has nearly 40 years of business experience and has worked with Exxon-Mobil (1958 – 1966), Monsanto (1969 – 1973), Cummins Engine Company (1973 – 1980), Dekalb Genetics Company (1980 – 1992), and Roadway Global Air (1994 – 1996). Mr. Skouby began as an electrical engineer with Exxon and through a progression of responsibilities became chief financial officer of Dekalb Genetics Company. He liquidated Roadway Global Air in 1996 after being instrumental in putting it on the road to profitability. He began teaching at Butler University in 1997 and moved to the College of Business in 2004. He teaches primarily in the field of entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level and assists Dr. Gregg Martin with the consulting course in the MBA program. He is also co-director (along with Dr. Gregory Bier) of the Flegel – Source Interlink Academy for Aspiring Entrepreneurs. He does a limited amount of consulting mainly in the area of business planning.
