Who
The competition is open to any individual or team of up to four students enrolled at MU during the Fall Semester.
What
Each student team completes a two-page venture idea submission form and submits it to Lisa Pagett via e-mail (
pagettl@missouri.edu
) or in person at 403 Cornell Hall. The form for the 2009 competition is posted above. Certificates will be awarded to all finalists. The finalists in each of the categories will receive lunch with the judges, with top team earing a $2,000 prize. The 2nd place individual or team in each category will receive a $1,000 prize. The 3rd place individual or team in each category will receive a $500 prize.
Where
Up to three finalist individuals or teams will be selected in both of the venture idea categories. Finalists will be asked to present their ideas at the Cornelll Hall 15 before regional judges.
When
All entries must be sent to Lisa Pagett (
pagettl@missouri.edu
) by 4 PM, October 26, 2009. Those selected as finalists in each category will be notified in early November. Finalists will make a presentation of their idea of up to three minutes in length before judges on November 13.
How
We believe that all students have entrepreneurial potential and can demonstrate that potential with limited assistance. We would be happy to provide assistance to individuals or teams about how to further develop their ideas. Judging will be by at least three community judges recognized for involvement with for-profit ventures.
Why
The purpose of the competition is to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit at the University of Missour, and promote idea creation in the student body of the Trulaske College of Business. In additional, this event will also introduce and showcase the Flegel Academy of Aspiring Entrepreneurs, a group of MU students interested in entrepreneurism.
